Has anyone had a stock RSX-S dynoed?
I am just curious what kind of power you are seeing to the wheels.
I've been reading up on 7thgencivic following the SF civic turbo kits. They claim 166WHP and mid 13's. The 166WHP I can buy, but the mid 13's are whats hard to swallow. I know the RSX-S has to be somewhere in that HP area to the wheels, and I don't think they are nearly that fast. I could be wrong, just trying to learn.
Just trying to figure in my head... SRT-4 is a 2.4L Turbo, running what.. like 14PSI factory? I've seen them at the strip turning mid 13's. Not sure if that is a stock number or a modified number, but lets say it's stock... they claim 230HP 250ft/lb.
SRT-4 2970 lbs
Civic EX manual 2612 lbs

A 7th gen civic coupe weighs 2597, and an RSX-S weighs 2767 lbs. both in manual trim obviously. Thats about 200 lbs in weight savings. And one thing that the SRT-4 has that these don't is torque, and torque is king on the track. And yes a baseline run on average for an RSX-S is about 160ish whp. With significantly less torque.
Hope that helps you out if anyone can help more feel free to respond and ask away.

Hi all well i just want to say this is my first post. I just dynoed my car 02' RSX_S and i got 189.8 whp and 134.2 ft. ibs. torque. all i've done to it was add a short ram intake from DC. i've also seen a few other RSX_S's dynoed and they hit around 175 to 190 whp. i've seen alot of civics B18's and B16's dynoed and the most impressive i've seen is 165 whp and like 130 ft. ibs. torque with bolt ons, no turbo. i saw a guy yesterday with a B20 block and B18C heads his was pretty nice, he hit 175 whp and 133 ft. ib torque. well it gives you an idea of how much [some] hondas put out. well i hope that helps. i'm outtie!
How relevant is it comparing the dyno horsepower of one car to another? Especially when you're actually talking about different makes of cars?
Different makes of cars have different parasitic losses on the dyno. The ITR (both DC5 and DC2) are notoriously poor performers on the dyno, supposedly because of parasitic losses involved w/the Torsen axle.

Yeah, mentioning different cars HP and performance was pointless I guess. I was just trying to imagine how 166HP civic turbo could even come close to mid 13's as claimed.
Thanks for the info rawk. That is very impressive for the RSX-S. 189WHP should make a good, fun to drive car. I'm not trying to build a race car, and I know civics aren't meant to be fast.. just considering ways to make my driving experience more enjoyable.

I got my '03 RSX-S because of the high RPMs and the nice push of power when the valves open up after about 5500RPM. (the sound ain't bad either). I liked the Neon for the super torque, but had to go with the reliable Honda product over the Dodge. I don't know of any domestics built with the same standards. Was worried I'd break the Neon far before its time. I'll be heading to the dyno after I get my supercharger from Jackson Racing. Of course, I've got to wait for the warrantee to run out first ;-) -Jim
