Default Help with 1995 Honda Del-Sol please!

Hello all,

When I put my 1995 Honda Del-Sol in reverse, it makes a slight squealing noise. But it only happens when I put it in reverse. Can anyone tell me what is wrong and what I should do to fix it? It has never made this noise before and only does it in reverse.

Thank you!
Darren

It might be that your brake pads need to be replaced. I know it sounds crazy, but the same thing happened to my friend's '96 Coupe. It only did it in reverse to begin with and then started doing it all the time. There's a little metal piece on the inner brake pads (disc brakes) that squeels when your brakes wear down to that point.

You should check those and go from there. It's a simple fix if it's those, just replace the pads.

hih

You can check them just by looking at them. No need to take it to a shop for something this simple. :goodjob:

Ok, cool, I have the Chiltons book, but can you go ahead and tell me where to look and what exactly to look for. And lets say the pads look ok, is there anything else it could be?

Thanks again,
Darren

It could very well be your brake pads just getting to the wear indicators, when you back up the car the pads shift a bit and it may be shifting jsut enough for the wear indicators to squeal when backing up, pull the wheels off and see how closed the metal tabs on the brake pads are to the rotor.
