Default del sol info

Hey all, I'm a noob. I'm thinking of getting a del sol but i want to find out some info on it. i'm interested in the Si and Vtec models..what are the differences besides power. are the engines the same as the civic engines? and how are repair costs for the car? i assume it would be pretty easy to find parts since it's a honda. any other info would be helpful cuz i want to learn more about the car. thanks!!

http://www.teamdelsol.com/ ->has alot of info you should look into

first of all your gonna have to pick a year, there are small diffrences between pretty much each one with styling, slight motor changes, options ect.

in general, the VTEC is much rarer and quicker in the high RPMs, the dual overhead cam really makes a diffrence. The Si has somewhat less pickup, but runs on unleaded fuel instead of premium. you can take any sol to places that work on hondas, but getting parts cars are alot harder than finding things for a civic. the VTEC can end up costing a bit more to maintian higher end parts (the platnum spark plugs jump to mind for some reason) but most people who get one find it really worth it. if you find and dont want a VTEC, i will trade +cash possibly. no matter what you get, a sol is really fun, i have had both and really love each for what they are.

if you go for a si i would go for a 95 because of the fixed seals so it won't leak, you still have the aux lights, air bags, trunk release, low gas light, and the 95 has the d16z6 which last time i checked was just a little faster than the d16y6 which has 2 more hp (isn't it the d16y6?) well if i could have waited a little longer i would have got a 95 and not a 94. and most of the parts i look for are for just the VTEC and some the si, almost none for the s

Welcome! :wavey:

I would do my best to buy a DOHC VTEC if I were in your shoes.

Yeah, the 93-95 SI has the D16Z6 which is OBD-I and the 96-97 has the D16Y8 which is OBD-II, but has a lower redline and slighly slower, but has the suspension of the VTEC model and sexy front bumper, all black interior, more sound deadening (I think) but it's hard to find.

Gas friendly except the S? The S gets the best gas mileage, so whatchu talkin' 'bout?

And what's up with the name "Bluebox?" It's like you combined male and female genitals.
