Default Insurance rates for an Acura Integra.

Are the rates supposed to be so high? I just financed a 2000 Acura Integra LS non-vtec sedan last week. When I recieved my insurance bill I almost fainted. The insurance would cost me more than what the car cost monthly. The policy I have with Progressive is now $407.00 a month for four months only.
Compared to when I had my 99' Accord with the Vtec engine, it was at $235.00 a month for a six month policy. I don't get it because I'm 25 years of age with only one ticket for an "inproper lane change".

I have a couple of questions. Who is your insurance provider? How do consider your rate? fair/unfair

How much driving experience do you have? How many driver's license points and insurance points have you incurred in the last three years?

I drive a 1994 Integra GSR with full coverage, state minimums, and $500 collision/$500 comprehensive. I just got my premium down to $190 a month from $280 a month. I have a reckless driving offense and a couple of accidents on the record still. The drop in price was due to my first speeding ticket dropping off three years ago last August.

That seems really high...especially for an LS. I think I pay a little over $100 a month for my GSR (total bill for both cars per month is $176). I have a near perfect driving record with 1 ticket in Arizona I do not think my insurance company knows about, yet. I am also 26 and married. Just to give you an idea.

Well I have been driving for eight years now and in that time I only recieved one ticket [inproper lane change]. Does being single or married affect an insurance rate?

As far as license points/insurance points, I don't know how many I have. All I know is that I have a decent driving record and no accidents. I don't like to make any claims on my insurance unless I have to because I worry about the rate increasing.

Maybe it's better to find a local insurance provider as compared to a big name insurance provider. Geico/Progressive/AIG.

-I called an insurance company (Liberty Mutual) today, they refused to give me a quote because I had one ticket in the last five years.

Being a single male and under 25 makes your rates higher. Being 26+ lowers your insurance rate, and by being married my wife and I are on the same policy so we get a multi-car, multi-driver discount. All the discounts may be small but they do add up.

Oh and I have Liberty Mutual too and they must have changed that rule since I started my policy 4 years ago. I know Geico has the same policy too.

I'm in california, I have 21st century insurance... its pretty high but not that high..its 1300 every 6 months... and im only 17...maybe because my mom has been with the company for so many years?? im not sure, but i would find a better insurance company, or raise your deductable...and start saving the extra that you would have to pay to the insurance to save your a$$....and save it for yourself...incase you get into a fenderbender or what not...if you dont, then at least u have the money, not the insurance company!!

just my insight...hope it helps

I can't even get a rate that good and I'm 25, you're lucky man. I will be paying more than $1800 for just 4 months. I live in Connecticut to so that doesn't help me any, everything seems so fawking expensive here.

Maybe I should move to Cali

Damn dude...where in CT are you? My insurance was higher when I lived in West Haven but it is lower now that I moved out of that ghetto. Something does not seem right at all. How old are you?

 West Haven is real Ghetto, you used to live there.

I was born in Yale New Haven hospital and grew up in New Haven. I'm currently living in Westbrook. Located between Old Saybrook & Clinton on the shoreline.

BTW I'm 25

Yeah I rocked WH for a little over a year when I was still renting. I hated going to bed every night for fear one of my cars would get stolen.

But as for your insurance I think you are getting hosed. Being 25 with one ticket should not bring your insurance up that high. Something is not right there. Especially living in that area of CT...it is not like there is a lot of crime there.
