Cant Order One!!??
I decided to buy a Honda Fit Sport for my daily. I go to test drive one today at my local Coggin Honda. They have 2. A white base 5speed and a orange Sport AT.
I decided to drive the base since I want a Sport 5 speed and the base was 5 speed. Took it out, had some fun. Drives nice, steering is really responsive and quick. Has no power but thats expected with only 109hp.
I like the car a lot, although the seats arent my favorite. Not much support but they work for me.
We go back inside after the test drive. I ask the sales person if I could get some sort of quote of a VBP Fit Sport 5speed. THATS IT. He looks at me and says they cant do that. He said that when they receive the Fits from the trucks they accessorize them.
The base that I drove was $18,500!!!!!! I could get a Scion tC for that and actually have rims!
I asked them if I can special order a Fit to my needs, basically pay for a car that I want. They said thats no possible. How is that not possible? If the car is a brand new car thats hard to come by shouldnt ordering one be what needs to be done?

that's bullshit...they are trying to rip you for profit as demand has far outstripped supply...dealers do this typically
go to another dealer (i always shop dealers against each other)...or you can write or fax a reply into Honda Corp and ask about getting the exact car you want and complain about the dealer...Honda does respond back as they have done for my requests before

Yea... Later on I called Holler Honda. We told them the story and they told me basically what you said.
My Probe GT is sold (next Wens) and I order my Fit Sport in VBP Sunday.
$15,800.... then tax/tag/title like always.
I just couldnt believe that they were saying that. Its like they seriously wanted to loose the sale, and they did.

Fit Misleading
I work for a Honda Dealership in PA. That dealership you went to, is wrong. You can order a Fit. However, there is about a 5-7 month wait on them right now, especially a 5speed in either trim.

Yea... I found that out.
I put my order for my Fit Sport on 8/13/06. They estimated November, Im sure that wont be happening but it would be nice.
I have this day in my head of when the car will show. December 13th. Weird, just a day that stood out. Basically 17 1/2 weeks or around 4 months.

It seems nearly every dealer here in Dallas is pulling that one now! I've purchased 2 new and 1 used honda in the past 8 years and looking for a new one soon. I got just what I wanted on the Civics then Pilot, without having to worry about the 'mandatory add-ons'. So now I've visited 3 dealers and 2 of them told me point blank that the dealership "won't sell a car" without the "Environmental Protection Package" (tinting, scotch guard, etc) and one or two other add-ons. Thank goodness there are like 10 honda dealerships around here and #3 and a 4th I called said they could "be flexible" if that's what I really wanted.

Wow, how times change. I bought my first Honda, a '89 Civic DX 4 door new and didn't have to take any add-ons (though I did pop for the carpetted floor mats and A/C. New, it was right at $9,000. And being active duty military at the time, I was not charged sales taxes in Tn. (that's the state's "present" to active duty military) I later bought and installed my own radio, the speakers were already there, I think, maybe not. Oh, and the car had a rebate when I bought it. Not much, just a few hundred bucks, but I didn't know aboout the rebate...they could have tried to keep it.

I went to the Auto Show today in Memphis...the Fit is in such short supply here, they didn't have one to display......STUPIDS!!
Most (about 75% to 80%) of the Fits, both new and used in this area are automatics...split about 50-50 Sport and non-Sport.
