Default Who makes a 10-12 lbs Flywheel????

Hey,
I'm thinking about putting a new clutch into my SI. Since its my daily driver.

I want to put in a lighter fly wheel, but not sure how light.

I dont think I want to go as low as a 9 lbs fly wheel.
I was thinking about 10-12 lbs??

Can anyone help me out ? with which brand to get?
and what weight?

Thanks

DK

I'd stay at at the very least 9. None of this 7.5 clutchmasters crap.

Stock flywheels can have about 20% of their mass safely machined off, but this is not recommended for high shock clutch systems or hard daily driving, though it will survive, it just doesn't make sense given the availability of good aftermarket alloy flywheels, but is a cheaper alternative.

so we agree then that for a good daily driver and race use flywheel, 10pounds or so is good? Or will this create too much of an inertial loss?

It really depends on the car. Most stock B series flywheels are in the low to mid 20 pounds stock. Dropping to 10 pounds is a significant difference (50%), and driveability may be affected with a lighter flywheel.

However, if we were to discuss say... a 1st gen CRX , its stock flywheel is what, about 14-16 pounds, Harry? Then you might still be in the OK range with a flywheel lighter than 10 pounds.

I like Exedy because it is a quality manufacturer, chromoly, and inexpensive in comparison to other brands.

So, for say an Ls/Vtec, what would you recommend?
