Engine code -- Map Sensor
i have a 93 del sol si and installed a turbo on it. the turbo has been on since 2001 and now i am having problems with the map sensor. i have already replaced the sensor once but still have the error code light up. does anyone have any ideas on what the problem may be? thanks.
The turbo is causing the problem. Honda MAP sensors were not really designed to operate with positive pressure in the manifold. There are a few companies that sell check valves for this reason.
im assuming that you were using a map sensor check valve before, since you've had the turbo on for a year, right??? if not, it's not very healthy for the car, cause the ecu doesn't know what to make of the +pressure. other than that, i've thrown a few codes since, but i think it's because a vacuum line let out some pressure or something, cause nothing really bad happens cept the car stalls....i just start it back up again and it's fine. also, to reset the light, just remove the negative battery cable and your ecu is reset and the light will go off. good luck!
Get a missing link if you're not going to change the ecm out at anytime. the plastic check valve octupus is a hokey setup.
If you change out the ecm, get a Bosch or GM 3-bar sensor. More than you'll ever need.
