ignition timing ?

Default ignition timing ?

I jus got my car werking today and my friend did the timing fer me. He thought it was suppose to be at 12 degrees wen i jus found out its suppose to be at 16...so is my timing retarded or advanced right now. And also if i decide to time it myself how do i kno if its btdc?

If he timed it to the proper mark on the crank pulley, then it's OK. He may have THOUGHT he was setting it to 12 but he was REALLY setting it to 16.

If he used a light with a built-in advance dial, then he might have actually set it to 12. So can he just do it again for you?
