Default Idle problem with '84 Accord please help

I have an '84 Accord sedan (88,000 miles) with a new (less than 6 months old), factory built carburetor. Can someone help me with the following problem:

Until about 2 weeks ago everything was fine. Now, I turn the car on and it kicks the carb into fast idle (normal so far). When the car reaches a certain temp, the fast idle kicks off and instead of idling normally the car shuts off. I turn the car back on and have to keep the gas pedal down (if I take my foot off the gas pedal it shuts off) until the car gets to normal operating temperature. Once the car reaches normal operating temp., it stays on and runs normally from then on. Once the car cools down, I have to go through the same thing again.

I know it's an old car, but does anyone have any ideas that can help me out?

By the way the carb came with a brand new choke.

Thanks

Make sure all the linkage is working correctly, it sounds like the choke spring tension is out of adjustment or part of the linkage is. Also check for any vacuum leaks.

Harry,

Thanks for your advise. There are no vacuum leaks, but there are a number of vacuum devices all around the carb and air filter housing. Could the problem be caused by one of these devices?

Also, the choke is electric. Would it still have a choke spring and would you know how to adjust it?

Thanks again....

I'm going to go look at my old carb and see if I can come up with any other suggestions for you.
