help..need technical advice
Ok,here is the deal.We put a motor in my friends delsol and we can't get it to run right. It starts sometimes but runs like shit. You can smell that it's burnin alot of fuel out of the exhaust. We have adjusted the timing about 40 or so times so far. Here is everything it has. Also the compression is approx. 12.5:1
1996 del sol
gsr block
type r pistons
type r head
toda cam gears
venom 510cc injectors
aem fuel rail and filter(regulator on the way)
mugen head gasket
crane cams ignition and external coil
apexi vafc
unorthodox crank pulley
jdm type r ecu
jg edelbrock intake manifold
It idles at about 40 psi for the fuel pressure. The only CEL we get is the intake temperature sending unit?
Any pointers would be great

check the air/fuel ratios coming from the vafc see if something is out of wack there, possibly the ecu ur using is making u run to rich causing that fuel out the back, compression is pretty high im guessing u guys are using at least 102 octane? or 92 with octane boosters? check ur spark plugs for signs of running rich, lean, etc. see if that helps u any, good luck on figuring it out. nice setup. and whats the mm size on that intake manifold?
95 octane with boosters added too.I for got it has the jg throttle body i think 62 mm.It alot more done to it as far as performance. It will be mean
as soon as we get it running right.I'm wondering if the injectors are too big though

I was about to say, your running twice the stock sized injectors, your going to run rich without tuning it. If you can get it on a dyno and a wideband O2, you might be able to clean it up with the V-AFC but turning them way down. Your probably better off with smaller injectors and maybe a tuneable computer like a Hondata or AEM EMS (if you've got the money). Seeya.

Thanks for the advice.I live in germany so finding a dyno is really hard.I heard that there is one about 2 hours away
So you think we should use smaller injectors??

yah if u didnt set the car up on the dyno and program the ecu with the vafc already for those injectors i would suggest going down the oem ones until u have time to do it. otherwise with the same amount of pressure going to the injectors ur going to be pushing a whole lot more fuel causing u to run rich, ur ecu will try to compensate and lower the fuel pressure, but will only do this once its recognizing ur pushing way too much gas.
