Default JDM Swaps and Emissions testing

Hi,

I was curious about peoples experience with JDM swaps and emissions testing. I see a lot of the JDM vendors advertise that the engines are not intended for street use, but I know that’s not true . What is the trick?

Thx,
Erik

here in texas there is not trick
the coutnies they do emissions in are ALL done on a dyno now, so they test the car under a load.
i passed my 94 civic hatch with a 95 p72 ecu, 2.5 inch high flow cat, and 94 jdm h22a....not a problem.

emissions only become an issue when u remove ur cat or have mechanical issues, not necessarily on the engine u have in the car, u just have to be under the levels that the test says u should be, with a clean engine u should do just fine.

there COULD be problems... my buddy with a JDM B16A CRX failed emissions, but paid a guy off $100 to get a fake slip and get passed in the computer. That's why I went USDM B18C1.

Yea thats the reason i went B18c1 as well. I do have one question. I didnt know they were gonna plug me up to the computer and i was running my OB1 GSR ecu so i failed. I was wondering if i used my 00 civic ecu with my GSR swap and they plugged me up if I would pass? Does anyone know or have any suggestions for me passing?
