VTEC life?
I was wondering how long before the VTEC quits and what are the chances of it? Reason being i got a 94 Civic EX and it has 135k on it. If it goes out do I just have to replace the solenoid?
I wouldn't worry about it... I have yet to see a non owner/abuser induced failure of the actual vtec mechanism in any honda engine. The only things that rarely go wrong are the solenoid and the oil pressure cut off switch. Just drive it!
just make sure to do ur regular maintainance and should have any issues, vtec is reliant on a good amount of oil, with low oil pressure it doesnt engage "properly neway" so if ur car starts burning oil due to years of wear make sure u top it off, if its still in good shape id say stop worrying and have a beer
