Default Engine Stumbling ALOT

My car has always done this, and I figured I would ask if it is abnormal, or just usual. I have a 91 accord, and if I am in say 3rd gear, after slowing down, and still in 3rd, around 1-1700 rpm, and I hit the gas...it stumbles ALOT. I know it should not have really any pick up, but it feels kinda like its going to stall.

Everything is stock except CAI. Its got 195k on it, but alot has been fixed lately(Dist, fuel pump, fuel filter, basic tune up stuff) Could it be something like injectors or???

Thanks for any help.

what are you doing running less than 2,000 RPM in 3rd gear?? That's why the car is stumbling, the engine can't make enough power to push the car down that low. Downshift into 2nd gear if you're coming up to a stop, or just let it coast in neutral.

Well, like I said, if its stupid traffic, stop and go, and Im not paying attention, then hit the gas at a low rpm, I would figure it would just go really slow...not stumble. Its not like I do it alot, just those once in a while times, it kinda makes me wonder if thats ok.

Well, it won't hurt anything right away, but it's not ok. Your engine hates it. When you rev that low in a high gear, you're putting tremendous load on the engine. You really should learn to concentrate on your in-car driving. Make sure the car is always able to operate in its power band (generally for most Honda's, the effective power band is from 3,000 to 7,000 rpm). This will keep your car happier, keep you safer becuz you're better able to maneuver the car in the event of a sticky situation, and it will stop that awful chugging that happens when the engine gets bogged down.

my car does that too, it shudders kinda like a 15 year old girl launches, only when youre already moving. I just ride around a gear lower than you'd normally have to. When your tranny's so rediculously tall (retarded vx tranny--makes NO sense), it doesn't hurt anyway.
