hey whats up again? My problems have been kinda sporatic... Simple things like loose wires, or shorting of wires. Plus all that cutting and splicing is kinda ghetto. Ecu's are sensitive as you know and small increases in resistance can greatly alter the signals the ecu sends and recieves. I was hoping to convert the car over to "de-ghettofy" and give me a little piece of mind. Especially if it only costs $150... by the way, im running the skunk2 conversion harness.

Hey Andy. This might of just helped me out. This probably sounds stupid but here it goes.I have a 98 cx.I bought a engine and tranny(y21) from a 93 civic vti(europe's equal to a sir2).I have been having nightmares about the wiring.I know I need the axles and rear mount from a del sol vtec.So I can use my stock wiring harness and put it on the b16 right.I'll have to run a few wires for the vtec??No knock sensor though, european hondas don;t have them.I need to get the conversion harness too.I have a p30 ecu to run with it.Also,is the skunk2 harness the best to use because I always see these homemade ones everywhere on the net. This will be very helpfull

Man, I forgot about this thread, sorry man. Your best bet to fix your harness problems would be a replacement with another OBD II harness. I've been told that '96-'98 Civic's use a slighly different harness than the '99-'00 (specifically the ECU plugs are different shape and different locations). If your feeling masochistic you always get a volt meter and test each wire and replace the ones that need it in your current harness?

You need to remove your CX harness and lay it onto the new motor. There will be some wires that need moved around and lenghtened and such (I'm getting ready to try this for my '98 EX/B20 swap someday soon). You will definately need a conversion harnes since a '93 engine won't have the OBD II sensors a later ECU will need. P30 (I believe that's the OBD I B16A correct?) should work just fine. Like it was said before, ECU's are sensative to ghetto wiring so solder you connections and shrink wrap them. Good luck. Seeya.
