check the Idle Air Valve on the intake plenum. make sure the sensor plug is connected and undamaged, wiring is in good condition. if all is good, your IAV is faulty and needs to be replaced. your manual would have told you this.

Also make sure you don't have any vac leaks or air in your cooling system. Either of those will make it impossible for the IACV to idle the car properly, and the ECM will then think the IACV is faulty.
