Default Replacing Gsr pistons for ITR's

I have just discovered that my #3 piston in my JDM B18c has bad rings. I am looking for someone who has replaced thier pistons with ITR's and have done it with the motor in the car, i know there is an article on another site that does it with the motor still in. The process doesnt seem too difficult ITR Head and Piston Intstallation . I would consider myself pretty mechanically inclined, so i plan on doing this myself, any input would be appreciated!!

BTW: Does anyone have any expirience with Total Seal piston rings??

From experiences that friends have had I would not recommend Total Seal rings. Stay with OEM honda rings since you're going with an OEM honda piston. Other than having the piston pressed onto the rod, you can do everything yourself. Make sure you have lots of brake cleaner handy, and liberally spray everything so you don't get contamination inside the motor. I also caution you to be VERY EASY on the oil squirters when putting them back in...don't force them. My friend tried to force one in when he put ITR pistons into his GSR, and he ended up stripping out the bolt hole in the block...so he's missing an oil squirter

And don't bother trying to get ahold of Kawi, he's my roommate and he never comes online anymore!

From what ive read and can see from the manual the squirters should not need to be removed if i am not taking the crank out. I would just remove/install the pistons through the top. Did your friend realize any performance gains to speak of from changing the pistons??

If your cylinders don't need to be honed, then yes you can leave the squirters in. But if you need to hone the cylinder walls, gotta take them out.
