About my fuel pressure
Hey whats up guys.. since i went turbo, ive been running the inline fuel pump.. People told me that 40 psi is normal, but mines been running about 50. My friends told me that i want it to run a little rich. The past couple of says i noticed its hittin 60 psi now. I have the stock regulator on it. Is 60 psi good or bad for it, im not really sure why it all the sudden started going up.. Can anyone help?
thanks
thanks
Your fuel pressure is 60psi at idle? If that's with the vac hose connected, that's way too high. That's also a pretty high reading if the vac hose is off. Are you running an FMU? Perhaps it's taking its toll on your FPR.
yea thats with the fmu... The fuel pressure gauge is right before the fuel rail..i have a holley fpr, just havent put it on yet.. i heard that its supposed to run a little rich, i just dont think that high..
When you read fuel pressure at idle, you do it with the vac hose disconnected from the FPR. That simulates a WOT situation where the pressure inside the manifold is equal to atmospheric. Fuel pressure with vacuum will be lower than fuel pressure at atmospheric pressure. For example, you may see that your fuel pressure at idle with the vac hose connected to the FPR is around 38psi, and the pressure with the hose off the FPR is 45psi. Your fuel pressure with the hose disconnected should be between 40-47psi. If it's at 60psi, that's way too high. As for people telling you it's better to run rich, the FMU takes care of that, so you shouldn't have to increase your base fuel pressure. You should be running stock fuel pressure, and the FMU will increase your fuel pressure dependent on manifold pressure. FMU's run incredibly rich anyway, so you don't need to add any base fuel pressure.
my fuel pressure is reading 60 psi with the vac hose still on.. where would i disconnect it from to read it more acuratly? It used to run at 40 psi when untill i went turbo and out the inline fuel pump on too. That boosted it up a bit, but i didnt think it would boost it up this high. Would your guess be to just swap out the fpr with the holley one i got and see if the pressure goes down?
i been messing with it, im not really sure what my fuel pressure is at because i just took the fuel gauge off and its stuck at 20 off the car. Im guessing my fuel pressure regulator isnt bad, the gauge just crapped out. So i guess what my psi is at idle is a mystery.

i just swaped out the stock fuel pressure regulator out, because i already had the holley one, but the gauge is bad. The holley says its set at 43.5 you think that would be good to run untill i get another gauge to adjust it?
