Default B16A block/GSR head?

Can anyone tell me what to expect from a B16A block/GSR head setup?

About the same as a b16a block with b16a head. Just .3 more compression.

Cool, do you think 6 and 1/2 PSI of boost would be too much?

Not with proper tuning.

Hmm, what counts as proper tuning?

Last time i took my Del Sol to a shop for a turbo install and proper tuning it ended up detonating on the drive home.

That would not be proper fuel tuning. Basically with a turbo your introducing a lot more air into the engine and you need to match that with fuel. Most aftermarket turbo kits come with some sort of system. Greddy uses a black box and larger 330cc injectors (not really big enough, I think anyway). F-max uses 2 addition injectors before the throttle body and a controller for them (works but the intake manifold isn't designed to carry fuel). Drag and Rev-Hard use a boost dependant fuel pressure regulator. When the engine builds boost, it increases the pressure in the fuel rail forcing the injectors to squirt more fuel. Simply but not really effective after 8-9 psi, the pressure in the rail will be so high it could damage the injectors. This is also a popular solution for custom turbo setups too. Vortech sells an inexpensive unit that works well. Beyond this, your looking at larger injectors and some sort of aftermarket fuel computer. What do you plan to do for fuel enrichment. Seeya.

I had a Rev hard stage 2 kit with the raising rate FMU and a "high volume" fuel pump that came with it when my engine detonated at 6 and 1/2 PSI of boost at about 6500RPM.

Assuming everything was hooked up and working correctly, that should have been sufficent. Are you sure about the boost reading (I'm assuming you have a boost gauge). Also, you might want to send your injectors out and have them cleaned and make sure everything is working correctly (RC does it for about $100). What ECU were you using with your setup. Seeya.

Yep, i'm sure about the boost, I have an Apex'i boost gauge.
Right now I am far too broke to do anything, thats why I am selling some SRP forged pistons right now.
I was using the stock GSR ECU.

Hmmm? Seems like it should be sufficent, something must be off somewhere. Sorry, aside from injectors, I'm not good with ideas. What line are you using to connect the fuel filter to the fuel rail? My friend had a B18C1 swap that wouldn't run right, always seemed like the ECU was pulling timing out. Turns out, something was wrong with that hose (or the banjo fitting) and it was cutting his fuel pressure. Got it fixed and it ran like a champ. Seeya.
