SOHC Monster - Tell me what you think :
With a low budget in mind, I have begun my process and bought a spare DX motor. and I hope to have a 8 second 1/8 mile (13 second 1/4 mile) SOHC.
D15b7 Transmission
D15b7 Block
D16z6 Head
D16z6 ECU
AEM High volume Fuel Rail
AEM Adjustable Cam Gear
AEM Fuel Pressure Regulator
310cc Injectors
ZEX 75 shot
255 lph fuel pump
Then Dyno Tune...
And that is all. I want to keep the motor as stock as possible and cheap as possible.
What do you guys think?

I would just buy a complete d16 engine. They're cheap and every little bit of displacement helps. Not to mention the fact that d15 rods are like toothpicks.
Secondly, forget the fuel rail and cam gear. You don't need them.
However, if you decide to do a head swap I've got a friend with 2 d16y8 heads lying around. Full internals, intake manifold, the works.

Well I really dont know if thats possible to get into the 13s Unless you open up hte block. Id say go get some head work done. Port your IM, Port the intake and exhaust ports. Do a 3 or 5 angle job. Clean up hte combustion chambers. If you got that along with the 75 shot you could make it. Get a VAFC too it would do you some justice and balance out all your air and fuel mods.
While you're at it, why not spend a little time working on that suspension? If you're spinning all the way through first then you are giving up a lot of ET. What is your normal 60' time? How much does it vary? If you can get hooked up you can easily pick up a few tenths if you had a crap 60' time like you said in your sig. Go in with some buddies and get a set of slicks mounted on some light rims. You can swap them out at the track in about 5 minutes and see a major difference.
I know im capable of at least a 2.0 60 foot with slicks,
My 60 foot right now is like 2.4, 2.5, 2.3.. spinning.. not a constant time, its all over the place.
I don't have any wheel hop, its just a matter of grip really.
If I get a set of slicks i can prolly net with the DX motor and the 55 shot on it right now, a high to mid 14 in the 1/4, and a low 9 in the 1/8 - I'd rather just spend my money on the EX head so I don't have to buy the complete motor, but buying the complete motor would make things a little easier. Im gonna blow the shit out of the motor i have right now once I upgrade fuel though, im gonna spray a 75 shot on the d15b7.. Expect disaster
