whitish crystally stuff on spark plugs
ok...all 4 plugs look the same. Nice and clean, no burning or pitting, but there's a very fine whitish-grey crust evenly covering each electrode. I looked it up, apparently that crust can form in *lean-running engines*, and in general a film of white or grey over the spark plugs is normal. Anyone have an opinion?
White specks or crust on the electrods means you are running lean/detonating. Are you running advanced timing?

my spark plugs was new and after three days of driving they are covered in a black carbon deposit on all four. I also advanced and retard my cams. so, is this a symptom of my car running running or rich?
if you have thick dark build up on the spark plug than that can mean either your running rich or you have alot of carbon build up in the block.
Also, how would you fix a running rich problem? I am running really rich on my 95 gsr in my 92 civic. It runs well, but is running very rich and has lots of backfire(including flames). I have contemplated to just get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, but is there a cheaper solution?

I think my timing is actually pulled back just a bit. and no, it's not white speks on my spark plugs, its a very even, very thin coat of white-ish stuff.
What are ways to make my fuel mix richer? I mean...its computer controlled (91 crx si). How could I make it run more rich to see if the spark plugs look different after a few hundred miles? thanks

Well you can back off your timing a few degrees, or get an adjustable FPR and bump the pressure up a few PSI.
