Default Ls Motor Question

I have a 94 teg w/ an Ls motor when i start the car in the morning the idle revs up and down by itself can anyone tell me if its normal. Although once the car is warmed up it doesnt do this anymore. I find it weird because it never did this before.

Sounds like an IACV problem.

You should also check to make sure the coolant level is full...

Idle air control valve.... its a valve with a soleniod on the back of the intake manifold that is computer controlled and allows air to enter the engine past the throttle plate at idle. A problem with this valve could cause jumpy idle conditions..

it could be your iac valve but also it could be your (fit) valve
fast idle thermo its under your throttlebody. theres a flat side
with two 8mm bolts take the plate off and inside theres a white donut thing with a spring loaded balls. the white donut thing has two slits across it just tightin the thing all the way down. that should fix your problem. if not it has to be your iac valve if so you will have to replace it .good luck

Hey, thought about the FIT last night too... only thing is that if it WAS the FIT then, wouldnt the car fail to return to any sort of normal idle? I would just stay constantly too high and not be jumping... anybody else know?

3 main things....1) IAC 2) TPS 3) check to see if your throttle cable has play in it without opening throttle plate( my car did exactly what urs is doing and mine didnt have play in it, loosened it and the prob went away)

Couldnt be TPS or throttle cable because if it was the idle wouldnt be jumping up and down... it would be steady too high...

It would most likely be the idle air control valve. My b16 in my hatch was doing that so I took it to import performance in St. George Utah and Andrew fixed it along with a few other things like tuned my cam gears and tuned up other stuff on the motor. My car seemed to run a whole heck of alot better, but it was probably all the other stuff he did.
