Default ATTN::: INspyral!!

Hey man whats up? I wrote earlier about the leaky autometer oil pressure sending unit. Well, it turns out that the male-male fitting going from the block to the T Broke!!! Since the threads broke off inside the sending unit bore, i tried using a screw extractor to remove the broken piece. In doing so, i managed to crack the block where the sending unit screws in. My question is , can i have this small piece welded and rebored? I am planning on removing the head to replace the head gasket (from coolant problems) anyways so it will be fairly accessable. Can i have this done??? Thank you...

P.s> ALWAYS run a line from the block to the sender on the firewall... this is a real pain in the ass!

You can probably get that done at a machine shop. Another option is to have a helicoil installed.

It's a sleeve that has a new set of threads on it, but if you cracked the block your idea of a plate might work. I'd call up a machine shop and see what they recommend. I'm sure that they deal with that stuff all the time.

Here's another option:

Probably better than a helicoil, since this is a full insert.

Someone on a different site was just telling me to do this b/c the T will always break if you just screw it into the block with the sender on the otherside w/the oil line. Looks like i'm going to be running out to the store to buy some more braided lines before my kit goes on. thanks for the info

Yo inspyral... just to update::::

The car has been towed to welding shop today. When i talked to the car about the crack, he said that it may not work and that they probably couldnt gaurantee it ;( What the hell??? I am not scraping a perfectly good motor because of some stupid **** like this... Is there another way?? Possibly just filling in the hole and running my oil pressure stuff off of something like an oil cooler attachment?? Thanks for you help..

If you can fill the hole, you can run the oil pressure sendeer on any number of locations. You can get the Z10 adapter fitting and run it off the oil pump. You can also get a GReddy, or similar oil filter block adapter and run it off that. I myself am running without the OEM oil pressure sender. My turbo feed goes directly into the block, in the OEM sender location, and my GReddy oil pressure sender is mounted on the flywall, and fed by 1/8" nylon tubing that connects to the filter block adapter.
