Alright, I am kinda new to putting on performance parts.. So, here it goes... I have a '95 civ ex, and a week ago my exhaust manifold got a fat crack in it, so, I ordered a header for it (DC sports 4/2/1) and got it yesterday and proceded to put it on..

Now seeing that I put my exhaust, and my short shifter in, I figured that this wouldn't be any harder.. so, to make a long ass story short, I got the header on, followed the instructions, and now my engine is loud as hell.. I can't hear at all when I rev it up.. Sorta remindes me of a diesel truck now...

I'm thinking that I have an exhaust leak, or something, I dont know if the down pipe isn't on correctly (looks like it is though..), or if I under/over tightened the header to the block.. Also, I figured it would be a good idea to change out the gasket while I was at it, so, if it is possible to put that on backwards, could that be it? Or am I going to have to take it to a local shop?

 

Also, right after I start my car.. The engine is completely hot, like the valve cover is like burning to the touch, it wasn't like that before, could that also possibly be a sign of an exhaust leak heating up the engine bay?

 

Did you stick your doughnut gasket between the cat and header? I forgot mine with I did my header. Made my car sound like ass cuz of the exhaust leak.

 

Ya, I did remember that, after I put it all on the first time, I was like oops.. Oh well, guess I'll take it to the locals tommorow morning.. thanks though..
