Default Valve Job

I was curious when a machine shop does a valve job do they take material out of the head or off the valves.

Normally it's a little of both.

Cut the valve seats just enough to get a fresh, clean seat, and cut the valve just enough to have a fresh, clean seat at the same angle as the seat.

You can also get a 5 angle done.

Coo thanks, I was just curious. Cuz I'm getting new valves and I was curious if it'd effect the previous 3 angle valvejob I had. Looks like it just might. oh well

If your seats are in good shape, they should only remove a couple thousandths to get everything set right. Shouldn't affect output at all.
