exactly, from what ive heard, diesel actually comes out to be cheaper than gas in the VW TDI because you pay more per gallon, but it lasts a whole lot longer.......

ya my mom gets 50-55 mpg in her jetta tdi. as far as price goes, ive been driving diesels my whole life, and in ohio, generally diesel is cheaper than gas, but they flip flop. someone said earlier that gasoline contains more energy than diesel? its exactly the opposite, you moron. :madfawk: why do you think you can go farther off of a gallon of diesel than a gallon of gas? which one pollutes more is up in the air, since they both pollute, just in different forms.

biodiesel=the future of automobiles

hydrogen powered cars=never gonna happen

hybrids and electic cars=stupid gimmick/fad that isnt realistic

I mean even if it's just a tad pricier, but here in canada it's about 10c cheaper for each litre of diesel, 79.9 for gas and 65.x for diesel.
Most of the Diesel cars that you'll find in N America are designed for maximum economy. That's why most of the car buyers choose it. OTOH an equally weak gas motor would get similar economy, so the advantage is not that great.

I think that diesel is better than gas because i think it burns better.If diesel were the same as gass they would only make gas motors.

there are a number of reasons to buy diesel most of the time they lie in better gas mileage full size trucks lk the turbodiesel f350 get 25 mpg while it's counterpart f350 gets lk 10-12 mpg and the turbodiesel has a better towing range so remember this when u need to get a trailor for ur civics that aren't street legal anymore diesel engines also last forever in the mercedes line i currently drive a 79 merceedes 300D and it has over 300,000 miles on it and starts up fine every day. the only two set backs for diesel is that the way they start up in the winter can be rough or won't even happen at all if u don't have it hooked up to electricity to keep it warm and they're slow unless you got a turbodiesel then they feel lk a normal car. Biodiesel is sold in Iowa for lk $4 a gallon thats what my neighbor told me so there is no reason to be scared about the oil crisis we can make biodiesel and put corn oil in our engines
