intercooler w/ no bov?

So... How often do you run your car up to 110mph + and then slam it into reverse... that's basically what you're suggesting... I mean, it can't hurt anything, the car was made to go forward and reverse, so it shouldn't matter what time interval you do it in right?....

obviously you have no idea of what you're talking about, therefore you resort to games of an insignificant mind.

but to play your stupid little game, a turbine is not mechanically driven, a transmission is. a fluid bearing turbine is not going to suffer significant damage due to backspinning, as long as it's not running peak rpm for the turbine's design. sensibility tells you to not abuse the turbine without a BOV, but like i said, limited useage until the BOV is installed will not damage a turbine. if you can compare a turbine backspin situation with throwing a tranny in reverse while moving forward, thus overworking the synchronizers, abusing the straight cut teeth on a reverse gear, forcing a shifter fork, and chewing up engagement dogs, then you have much to learn about common sense.

and if a BOV is such an issue, maybe you should write a letter to Greddy and let them know their turbo systems are faulty, and prone to instant breakage.

First off, thanks for calling me a tool

Second, a sudden back spin can do a couple of things [besides all of this, a BOV won't matter if you're not in boost to begin with, but how often can you merge on the interstate without a heavy enough foot to get into boost....]. Bearings get used to spinning in one direction, and the oiling system in a turbo is another you need to consider, and not just the robustness of the turbine. Not only does the engine force oil to the turbine shaft to keep it lubricated, but as the turbine shaft spins, it helps feed oil though so that it can go out through the drain. By back-spinning a turbo suddenly you can see an oil pressure spike that can lead to failure of the shaft seal.

I've seen it happen several times, and the damage gets to be quite expensive, so yes, I compare it to destroying a perfectly good transmission out of stupidity.

Also whats up with all the jackasses in here lately? I mean damn I don't post here much but ****, people can't just share info and be polite, they gotta get an attitude and be all "hard".
