If its a D series non vtec, dont go 12 lbs. WAY to much if you want it too last. Stay at the 6 psi and you will bw fine. But if you want more power, save up for a swap, you may here this a lot but theres a reason, its the best you can do for your car, and it will last too.
12lbs of boost from a JRSC is putting it pretty close to its thermal efficiency limit. If you're going to do that, you'll need some very good tuning, and perhaps run some water injection, since your intake charge is going to be very hot. As for your engine, the internals should be able to handle 12lbs of boost with VERY good tuning, but as soon as you detonate, things can go awry very quickly. 12lbs of boost would probably be the maximum amount you would want to run under ideal conditions, but under real world conditions, you would probably want to run less if you want your engine to continue living. Also, if you have an automatic, the tranny isn't going to be able to cope with 12lbs of boost very well.
from what i've read and from what jackson racing has researched, 12lbs of boost isnt going to be safe on d16 internals, at least not everyday driver safe.
i've got a d16y8 with the jrsc and the boost upgrade (9lbs). i've been told our motors can handle 10lbs of boost on stock internals, which i'm guessing is why jackson made the 9lb pulley and not a 12 lb. pulley. anyways my car is running well on 9lbs, i wouldnt recommend going higher.
then again i know a kid who is running like 9lbs of turbo boost and a 75 shot on stock internals in his cavelier. he doesnt care if he blows the motor, i think he's somewhat trying to (reason to upgrade), but the motor has made it through two bottles already??? very surprised its still going, but its going to eventually blow, and yours probably would too.

? This car is a daily commuter and I NEED it to last. The only mods I have are the JRSC, JR fuel pump, air intake, and header. Thanks for any help.
the pulley upgrade should take you up to 9 or 10 lbs of boost. i've had mine on for about 10,000 miles and the 6 lb pulley for another 30,000.
if you get the entire kit (minus fuel pump since you already have) you'll be fine. in all honesty, the boost timing retarder is the most expensive part of the kit, and i really cant even tell if it makes a difference, i usually have it on stock setting.
