no spark, distributor?

when my distributor went out it was making a swishing noise the day before when I was driving it. Then when I turned it back on it would turn over and then just kind of poop out and make a really horrible sound.

If the rotor isn't turning, it sure sounds like the timing belt is broke. The distributor shaft keys right into the end of the cam, so that means the cam isn't turning. Bad news...

Yep, I'll concurr. Try turning it over by hand via the crank pulley or pull the timing belt cover to see what's going on with that...
How many miles are on this timing belt? When was it last changed?
