I'd hazard a guess at mid 13s. If you don't have the b18c5 hatch yet and are planning on doing something along these lines, I would highly recommend that you turbocharge a b18b or b18c1. You'll get similar times for $3000 less.

GSRT hands down.

[soapbox]
I don't understand why so many people come out here (and just people in general) think that the C5 + FI is the greatest thing ever and will be sooooooo fast...
Obviously these people don't do research and realze that you're going to have a much more reliable car with lower compression and be able to boost higher! I just don't get it...[/soapbox]

The Type R has a higher compression ratio, which under boost is more prone to detonation.

Exactly! The B18C or C5 has 10.6:1 cr and the B18C1 has 10:1 (which is still high for FI). You'd want to drop to 9.5:1 or 9:1 to be able to run a decent amount of boost - with the right rods of course.

That been said, it's a waste of about $1000 to get the C/C5 if you're just going to lower the compression as that, springs, retainers and cams is really all that it has over the C1.

Hope that explains a little more.

You can run 10:1 compression and a decent amount of boost, it's all in the tuning.

That's true too... but not many people are that anal about tuning... especially when you really don't know what compression ratios are.

as everyone stated, not the best motor to use FI on, not the worst either. just a waste of money. there are much better options out there for the amount of money that a super charged b18c5 would cost. you could build a very nice n/a motor for that price and be running a set of itb's daily. in my opinion that would be glorious. mainly for the sound.
