I don't think you'll have much luck unless you put the engine in the trunk.

it'll be a hard swap. i'm not even sure if you the insight shares anything type of suspension with the civic/rsx. you may have to fabricate new mounts to use the spindles, if you are using the a arm and suspension to go along with it.

an insight swap would be an awesome idea, cause that whole car is designed with light weight in mind. any thing is possible, but you may need to do a tube frame front end. or atleast cut away some metal in the engine bay.

either way. good luck with it.

yeah we are definitely going to have to weld our own motor mounts and find a spindle assembly that will work with the rsx motor, like i said above. im thinking that the new style civic spindles may work, worse comes to worse i can have custom axles made for me.

Ditto, but I think it's a good Idea. I've kicked it around a few times in my own head. It is basically a new CRX, lightweight, good gas milage, shortwheel base... Ought to be ineresting swap at any rate. Have fun and post some pics.

ever consider doing the new hybrid civic sedan? i'm thinkin' the civic is probably similar to the insight on design, and honda probably made the sedan as light as possible to offset the batteries weighing it down in the back. that one might be a little easier to work on.

insight is lightweight and pretty ridiculously aerodynamic.

yeah acutally i was thinkin about the new civic hybrid sedan......possibly doing a swap in one of those, but we got such a good deal on the insight(less then a grand) so we had to go for that first. we're in the process of getting the rsx type r swap right now

I'm more worried about overall underhood room than the custom equipment that may be required. Hopefully you'll be able to get away with just a custom hood.
