Does sound like a fuxored water pump. As far as aftermarket support you can run an external electric setup, but that's like 300+ dollars. I'd just stick with a stock replacement.

I agree. Unless there's something else blocking your coolant flow, it's most likely the pump. If it is, I would just replace it with an OEM one and do your timing belt at the same time.

First before you go changing the waterpump change your thermostat and gasket. It most likely isn't opening, if your upper hose isn't getting hot. You won't see any flow through your radiator until the thermostat opens. It's still posible that your water pump is no good, but i'd still change the thermostat first since it's a lot easier to do and will cost you 10 bucks maybe. But your heater shouldn't have anything to do with your thermostat opening. If the coolant was warming up it should have been blowing hot air through, so maybe you do have a water pump problem.

Default no heat

I have just bought a 91 legend LS and it has the same problems as your car. it is overheating, the idle flucturates at times, usually once it gets hot, and I get no heat from my heater at all. If you find the problem please let me know.

replaced the front seats with much less abused examples about 3 months ago(they look like they have under 25000 miles sat in them)

jdm b18b with replaced piston rings
s1 tranny
16g turbo
custom exhaust manifold, intercooler, and down pipe
xs blow off valve, sard fpr
clutch master stage 2
str block guard
oem 2.25" exhaust
some cheap boost guage
not sure what brand poly engine mounts really solid though
all this was put on about 8000 miles ago

anyone interested let me know
only problems are those listed here
plus a small crack in the dash
and something jacked with stereo wiring, only left side will play

If you want to sell your car then post in the 4 Sale forum. You should also provide a location.

Sounds like you either have a messed up thermostat or water pump. More likely the water pump. When was the pump last changed? If you used the pump that came with the motor, there's really know way to tell how old the thing is.

if its thermostat and its stuck open it will take a long time for the gauge to move up, if it moves up much at all and get any heat.. if its stuck closed u will overheat.. of the 2 stuck open is better at least the antifreeze is moving some..your thermostat may just be intermittently sticking they can do that.. if your antifreeze isnt moving but its in the radiator maybe stuck closed it will over heat its not moving out of the radiator.. water pumps make noise, bearing whine noise, weep antifreeze out of the weep hole. i think they are pretty consistent when they go, not work one day and not the next...cooling systems are a real pain in the butt. when air gets in them through leaks your idle will be rough.. you can have heat one minute and nothing the next if air is stuck in the system..i dont know the age of your radiator but look at it they can seep antifreeze and u wont necessarily see it. check around the filler neck and where the plastic tank attaches to the radiator frame.. they tend to crack right at the top vibration off these old cars can do this, sucky motor mounts.. i went through a thermostat, stuck closed, a heater knob no heat, then finally the radiator had to be replaced. water pumps dont kick on and off.
