how do you make an ls-vtec engine?
I was wondering what goes into making a ls-vtec engine? My friend said it is usually built with a civic si head....but still not sure what it is about. if someone could explain it would be great
Taking an integra ls block b18a/b and combining it with a vtec head b18c, b16, etc. But its not as easy as just putting them together. Theres more to it then just that. But I personally couldn't give you the information.
It is quite a project! I'd recommend anyone save yourself the trouble and buy a gsr long block. A recommended list of upgrades inclues ARP rod bolts, Z10 engineereing block girlde, vtec water pump, vtec oil pump, vtec head bolts, and finally upgraded dome style vtec pistons

I'd agree with Inspyral that it'd be easier to swap an LS crank into a GsR, although maybe more expensive. If you own an Ls, try and sell it as a swap. You can pick up around $2000 for an Ls swap fairly easily, and buy a GsR swap for $3500, the difference would be much cheaper, and you'd make more power and have more reliability than some one-off hybrid freak motor crafted from all sorts of different parts.
