Default B16A ass + B16B head???

I was just wondering if anyone has tried this yet? A B16A block mated with a B16B head? would it be just like puting the B18C5 typeR head on a B18C1? How hard is it to do that anyway?

No, it wouldn't be like that.

It will work, and it is the same hting as an itr head. No real big differences.

Completely different block, compeltely different internals. the block is the of the same height as the b18c1 and c5. it is just destroked. as well as the higher comp. ratio.

I thought all the B series blocks were the same block with diferent bore sizes? What you are sayin is that the b18C1 is taller than the B16A3?

Umm the stroke and displacement of the b16b is the same as that of the b16a, so it's not destroked, and has the same piston to deck height. It has more domed pistons for higher compression, different valvetrain/cams, and a port job....but it's essentially the same head/block.

NO, not all B series engines have the same blocks. The B18's have a taller deck than the b16's. If you put a b16b head on a b16a block you have basicly a detuned CTR. The pistons dont have the same CR as CTR and the rods arent as strong. other than that with some minor exterior features its a CTR. It wont make the HP that a CTR does nor will it be as reliable at high revs. A great combo like that would be a b18c block with b16 rods and pistons and a B16b/b18c6 head. With the taller deck of the b18 you can get a longer stroke with the same revs.
