Default engin noise at 3000rpm, help!

this is a 95 gsr with 100,000 miles on it. recently, engin make ping-ping noise at 3000rpm on all gears. sounds like something is "loosing". car runs fine all the time, the noise just happens at this certain rpm. any idea will be great appreciated.

could be a small leak or crack in the manifold, but you say its only at 3K rpms? what about higher? is it while you are under load pushing on the gas or driving normal around 3k? Could actually be something loose like you are talking about, a loose speedo cable etc, just make sure its not actual "pinging" if you know what that is an everything about it......

is it a rattle? If so it might also be your shift linkage. A friend of mine had the same problem with his car.
