Default Swap Prices

I was looking for some swapping information to put a B18B engine into my 1990 CRX DX and I really don't want to do a half assed job so I'm going for fully brand new products and was looking at prices, I was wanting your opinion if the brand new products are worth it:

B18B Long Block ('96): $650
HAS Mount Kit: $449
HAS Shift Linkage: $150
HAS Conversion Harness: $199
ZDYNE Gold ECU: $950
5 Speed LS Tranny ('93): $500
Venom Intake Manifold: $450

I also have some questions, will a '93 5spd bolt up to a '96 long block with both being LS (doubt that matters).

I'm not really sure if the Venom IM is really necessary, unless you're going to be boosting later on. Other than that, the setup sounds good. Yes, the cable 93 tranny will bolt right up to the 96 B18B block.

Skip the Venom manifold.

What do you need the ZDyne ECU for? You could get one out of a '90-'91 Integra and it'll work fine.

Oh, and the motor and trans will bolt up fine. All B-series stuff bolts up to each other, just make sure you get a cable clutch transmission to put into your cable clutch pedal equipped car. If you get a '90-'91 Integra transmission it uses a smaller clutch than the '92-'93.

ZDyne Gold SECU is a laptop programmable unit. No AFC, no Hondata ROM burning shenanigans.

Boosting is definitely in my plans right after the swap. I would like to go with the Drag Gen III setup and then eventually upgrade to a bigger turbo (lag doesn't concern me much).

I'm trying to stay as far away from used parts as I can, other than the engine and transmission of course. And after reading about many of the hybrid CRXs (esp DX versions) I've decided that ZDyne Gold was the way to go for maximum performance/reliability.

I know what it is.

OK, the boost explains it. If you were just plopping the motor in however, a fully programmable ECU would be a tad overkill.

You can never have too much adjustibility [unless you don't know what you're doing]

Oh, don't get me wrong, it will be a while before I even have the long block. Even when I get it I'll leave it out in my garage while I build it for installing purposes. Trust me, I used to stay broke all the time but now since I got me a descent job and a cheap car (as in price not quality), I don't have to live paycheck to paycheck anymore.

I would take a Skunk2 or Edelbrock manifold over the Venom any day of the week. Better performance and $100-150 cheaper.

Skunk2 for mid range power, Edelbrock for top end.
