Default what's the benefit?

what is the benefit of using an OBD1 ecu on a 96-2000 civic ex vs. the original OBD2? will it free up some HP or???

No, it won't gain you any power. If you want to reprogram the ECU with something like a Hondata, you need to convert to OBD1. Other than that there's no reason to, other than to satisfy an overriding desire to subvert DOT regulations.

lol... yup, i do plan on going with hondata later on... after my swap. but that's 2 year later down the road. in the mean time... just wanna learn as much as possible... even though it's endless...
