Default Where should the money go?

Hey, my buddies got $1000 to spend and wanted me to look into the best way to spend it upgrading his motor. His current setup includes a B16 with a stock bottom end and an ITR cylinder head. He's got and ITR intake manifold + AEM cold air, with a high performance exhaust. I Recommended he get a set of stage1 skunk2's with Skunk2 gears and retainers and a VAFC w/ some ARP rod bolts (As too FatBooty's advice). That'd come out to just over $1000 whadda think about that?

If you really feel like taking the rods out just to change the bolts be my guest. Same deal with the cams, you won't get a huge gain as compared to the ITR's unless you get the head ported. The skunks like porting.

For a grand to spend on that car I'd get a header (you didn't say if he's got one or not), cam gears, a Hondata s100 and some dyno pulls.

There's no such thing as a universal setup.

He was noting his distaste for power adders.

If you have a TIG welder you could probably fab up some kinda makeshift manifold out of a B-series flange and a old CRX HF manifold. Then grab the turbo parts off of like an old Saab at a junkyard. But yeah for $1000 grand you can't really do much or get something resembling reliable parts.
