Default intakes.

what exactly is so restrictive about the stock intake?

the filter?
the bumpy intake tube?
how they air recirculates with the resonator in the fender....?

You pretty much nailed it. Stock paper filter doesn't flow very well, bumpy intake tube is good at cancelling out soundwaves but slows and adds turbulance to the intake charge, and the resonator is like breathing thru a straw.

You can use that AEM valve, or just run a short ram with a heatshield or box around it and ducting to bring in cool air from the bumper opening.
