I'm putting a B16 into my crx and I wanna go FI.:boink: I've been thinking about either a homemade turbo setup or nitrous. I know with the homemade turbo I'll be needing new pistons at the very least. My question is, what are some pros and cons of nitrous? I've heard it's unreliable but i think that's bull****. The reason I'm looking at it is because of the on/off switch. Will I need to build the engine for it to be reliable? Is boost able to be turned on/off?

P.S. I realize this must be a redundant post, so and forwards to other posts would be appreciated.:wiggle:

You don't need new pistons to boost a B16. The stock bottom end can handle 14lbs of boost if properly tuned. Something more conservative, like say 10lbs of boost wouldn't be a problem if you're tuning isn't up to snuff. Just make sure you get enough fuel, and never lean out and you'll be fine.

 

Nitrous is very reliable, when properly tuned, just like any other form of FI. The problem is people try to run too much timing, too much nitrous, and don't know what the hell they are doing as far as tuning it goes.

Pros:
It's only there when you want it, isn't a constant strain on the engine
instant power
massive torque....more torque per hp than anything else
cheap

Cons:
Not always there
bottle can run out
gotta refill the bottle
addicting-(i guess could be a pro )

If you want balls out speed, get a built motor and a big shot
