Default best way to locate cylinder causing bubbling

Hi,

I have a 96 Civic with a D16Y8 engine that I suspect is having a failing head gasket, and I wonder what is the best way to locate the cylinder that causes the bubbling at the radiator? Can one of the injector wires be disconnected while the engine is running on idle on a trial and error basis to see which cylinder causes the bubbling? Will this harm anything?

There is a strong exhaust odor in the coolant..

Thanks for any input.

Run a compression test. The lower reading cylinder(s) are the problematic ones.
