Default noob clutch question

My 1990 civic si has a noisy clutch. Whenever I downshift and slowly let off the clutch (to avoid jerking) there is a loud rubbing noise...until the clutch pedal is released all the way....does this mean I have bad teeth on the clutch? it will do it on all gears.

How old is the clutch? First instict is that the clutch is worn to the rivets and is gouging the flywheel. It's hard to tell without pulling the tranny and actually looking at it. :hs:

This might help out: https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...d.php?t=139802

Well the clutch and flywheel are supposedly new. I picked the car up last week and didn't detect this during my little drive while I was looking at it.

I kinda figured the only way to tell is by pulling it and looking. luckily I know a mechanic and he can help me out.

Good question, but wouldn't it make noise the entire time that the clutch is engaged if it were the bearing? The fact that it only seems to make noise when he's letting off makes me think disc.

have to agree with west sounds like either a piece is gone or its down to the rivets or maybe a broken spring on the pressure plate or clutch disk.
