Hey HAN... i keep getting a knock every time i hit the clutch to get out of gear and then hit the brake to come to a stop. is that normal? This is my first standard and maybe its just me messing it up. but i think i'm doing fine. what could it be?

 

You're going to need to describe the "knocking" better than that. Is it coming from your engine (i.e., detonation), or the transmission, or the axles, or the suspension?

I'm assuming engine because of where you posted, but try to provide more details.

 

sorry, i shuold've clarified... it sounds like its coming from my rear axles...

 

Something loose?
Take a look under your car and move/shake some of the parts... Check for bushings... They can "go bad" and then cause movement where it is not intended.

Motor mounts/tranny mounts. Or a CV ready to bust, but doubtful if you're not hearing clicking around corners.
