Default 3rd gear synchro ?

My friend has a 94 jdm b18c1 and his 3rd gear synchro is messed up. How hard is it to fix that, or get it repaired? Can it be done by two honda boys ?

I've never actually done internal tranny work, but I hear it's a pain in the ass.

ran into this issue with my best friends 2k Ex...JUST GET A NEW ONE or used one....trannies are not fun to rebuild..and arent cheap..its easier to just swap a new one in and go about your way..and junk..or sell it to a shop or something..you can get a used tranny online for like 1k for a GSR...if not less...B16a2/3 trannies are universal with GSR's you may just need new axle seals, throw out bearing and axles...which you may as well change while u got it all out and apart

Used GSR trannies usually go for $600-750. You can get JDM ITR trannies for around $1200, more if you want the 4.785 FD.

He usually has the 4.40 FD trannies for around 1200-1275, the 4.785 trannies are more.

its definitely cheaper/easier on most hondas just to replace a tranny then to rebuild it. To change a synchro the whole tranny has to be gutted just for that stupid little brass synchro...

My tranny (ITR) used, to do that. Had it rebuilt under warranty from the shop where it was purchased and it has worked flawlessy since then.
