Help with b16 head!!!

Default Help with b16 head!!!

ok im just trying to find out all of what i will ave to take off to get to my head studs?? if anyone could list what to take off or shoot me to a link that would be great! thanks

stock it came with head bolts not studs

To get to them, you have to pull the cams out. To get the head off, you will have to do a lot more than that.

And yeah, they came with bolts, not studs.

i had a leak befor and i got the head took off and re surfaced, they replaced the head bolts with ARP head studs, could that be why its still leaking????

If it's leaking from where the head meets the block, then either your headgasket is bad, or the head and block aren't mating properly. Maybe they botched your resurface job.

but if i replace them with head studs rather then head bolts will the studs still be effective?

Yes. The studs are not your problem, unless they were installed incorrectly or not torqued properly.

thanks, im going to take of the head today and re torque the studs, and hopfully that will work. im going to run it for a couple days after if it still leaks im going to break down and cry like a little girl. and thanks dubcac for the quick info

I hope you have a new headgasket handy...or some copper spray to reuse the old headgasket.

Reuse a head gasket??
Never heard of anyone actually reusing a head gasket. I had a problem where I put a new gasket on, ran the car for <5 miles, then removed the head again, and I still didn't reuse the old gasket.
