help me quick
i have a 94 honda civic ex. blew the z6. so i ordered a jdm d15b. well it spun a bearing at 45 day mark. i am planning to use my old d16z6 (usdm) block and resurface the crank and hone the walls. on top of that i want to use my jdm d15b head. i was hoping to use the crank but the stroke is different (by 5.5 +/-). i plan to use the d16 block, crank. i also scortched the pistons and need to have them replaced. i cannot find any info on what size combustion chamber the jdm d15 has. i have heard it is between the usdm d16 and usdm d15, but cannot get an exact cc size. i am hoping to raise the compression level to 11:1 to 11.5 or 11.75:1. i want an all motor setup to see if the myth that turbo is overrated or not, and also i want to be different. in order to order the pistons i need to know the combustion chamber size of the jdm d15. i would appreciate only sure responses and not stabs in the dark. and i hope i didnt offend any turbo buffs out there, but this is my first import build. i usually prefer the v8's, but i wanted to see what all the hype is about, and since everyone and their mother has turbo, i want to see what an all motor setup can do against a turbo car. also, does anyone know the limit of how high the compression ratio can go before i get spark knowck. i want to use pump gas, preferably mid grade.91 octane, but 93 is available where i live. thank goodness for low emissions standards in VA. i also am not looking for forged rods, or je pistions, just stock replacements. i am thinking vitara, or zc dome pistons. but the calculator i used, bumped compression too high when i used the z6 head cc specs, and a little low when i used the usdm d15b7 specs. also, i have seen the piston to deck height is .04 in difference (in the hole) no matter which head gasket i choose. so i was wondering if i should mill the block or head to reduce the difference to try to get it as close as possible to flush. or will it not really make that big of a difference. i think i can also go a few mm out of the hole before it will hit the valves, but i am not sure, so if you know your wisdom will be appreciated as well. if you can think of any aspect that i have missed in considering pistons please tell me and include explaination of why that principle is used. i have searched countless forums for info and have decided to finally submit a post. again, i am looking to run pump gas, and prefer to stay at mid grade, but will consider using 93 depending on the performance difference. this is my daily driver and budget is way limited. thank you in advance for all your help and wisdom. Lastly... should i use the jdm or usdm tranny.. cant find info on the internals or the shift points. (they are automatics by the way
.. too many tickets if i have a manual, will consider it when the motor is finally completed to my liking, if it is worthy. so please dont suggest a 5 speed. it is not in the budget right now, and it is hard to race when you are in jail. just looking to build something that i can give the locals hell with. is there a difference in the vtec solenoids from the z6 and the d15, or is it pretty much a universal thing. ooops, silly me.. i did the rear disc integra swap, how important is it that i use the acura proportioning valve? will it make that much of a braking difference. that is all for now. it is alot to ask, but that is how ya learn....
USDM D16z6: block, crank, rods
JDM D15B: head (heard the cam is about the same as a stage 1 cam.. can you confirm or deny this)
Pistons: to be determined... pending your responses
Tranny: should i use the one off the jdm or the US motor, or is there not a difference.
