96 gsr head swap with 2001 type R
I am considering swaping the head on my B18C1 (96 gsr) with a head from a B18C5 (2001 type-r) with a skunk II intake.
I believe the B18C1 has different pistons. Therefore, my compression will drop?
Should I make the swap? If so, will I have any problems? Is it worth the trouble? Will the car run like a type R?
Thanks

Yep, your compression will be about 9.806, so it will drop from 10. However this is with the stock pistons. However you can have 10.6 with the type r's and 11.33 with the P30's...

Thanks 95LSv.
I was hoping to get a little more power from a quick swap but it appears that I wont have the same power as the type-r. I guess I could use a thinner head gasket or have the head shaved.
It seems like a lot of work for only a few ponies.
Thanks,
Kevin

Here is a GREAT article about adding horsepower to B16's, B18's, and B20's.
The article includes putting B18C heads on a B16.
