Go to honda-tech and search for supercharger vs. turbo. You will get 200 threads about the subject. It has been beaten to death to say the least.

I am not a fan of superchargers on small displacement four cylinders, unless it's a centrifigual blower (which have more common power delivery characteristics of a turbocharger, they don't spool till ~100,000RPM).

You can only force so much air into a small displacement four cylinder, turbochargers seem to induct air much more efficiently and make a lot more power.

But like Schmoo said, it's been beaten to death.

^Yup.

I honestly would never SC any Japanese car, it just doesn't seem right to me. I personally feel you get better and more reliable power from a turbo, not to mention it doesn't kill your gas mileage nearly as bad. I have a few friends with SC domestic cars, but I really didn't see a huge change in their cars once they SC them. It pretty much comes down to personal preference though.

According to your question, I think the answer is a supercharger. It is suppose to be the easier one of the two to install (it usually has less parts), and it does not require the tuning like a turbo, and does not kill the life of the engine. I don't really know what you mean by reliable, so I don't know if I answered that part of your question.

There is no correct answer. Just understand that the power from a SC is a linear delivery - ie. power gain is felt all the way across the power band as though you just added another cylinder or two. Turbo has spool, lag and then massive boost. So.. different properties to how and when power is delivered. Turbo will make your car feel like turbo. SC will make your 4 cyl seem like 6. Understand this is like a religious debate. It's not just an easy answer question.

^what he said, and...

A turbo is more efficient than a supercharger in that a supercharger is only as strong as the engine that powers it ( supercharger runs just like your alternator or ac pump, a belt run off of the crank spins a compressor--turbo uses the exhaust gases of the engine that are already there, you're just putting a compressor wheel in line of the exhaust, using 'free' power; a supercharger uses the hp off the crank, initially removing hp, but returning it more so in the form of boost )
Superchargers tend to respond better to larger displacement engines rather than a 4 cylinder...v8's, big v6 and the like...
