Default valve tap....

Hey was up everyone!! I just got a quick question... I have a 92 LS Integra... it has got about 160,000 miles on it.. Ever since I got the car the valves had a slight tapping to em... well its been getting worse and it is sounding pretty bad now... Someone had told me before to not adjust them being it has so many miles the car got used to it like that and if i adjust them it will only cause more problems... what you think?

Whoever said that is completely retarded. Valve adjustment should be done every 30,000 miles on the B18A1. It'll clear up after an adjustment.

adjust em when i get home.... just to make sure i am doing it right...

take off the valve cover
and turn the valves with a flathead...
i also have a feeler gauge... what should it be adjusted to?

Make sure the engine is cold first so the metal has time to contract and you'll get the most accurate adjustment.

You want the feeler gauge to barely snag and feel the slightest resistance. It's also a good idea to replace the valve cover gasket and plug seals since you're in there.
