Thermostat and Fan switch???
Here is the deal my thermostat went bad on my integra last night. I have a few questions? I keep debating wether to by the Spoon or Mugen thermostat and fan switch. I know they operate at cooler temperatures but make the car warm up faster. Should i stick with Honda replacement or wait and buy the Spoon or Mugen set? Can harm be done by goin aftermarket? I have samco hoses so i know i can withstand the increases pressure and probably will buy a new rad cap. but any input would help thanks

i never heard of a thermostat & fan switch making the car warm up quicker!!! the thermostat only opens when it reaches a certain temp. it does nothing to add heat to the heating system. same w/ the fan switch.
are you having problems w/ overheating? if not, why go w/ a lower temp thermostat?
from reading other posts in a jeep forum before, the guy that works as an engine test guy around the motor city area said that when the engine is running cooler, not up to "design operating temp," the piston rings wore a lot quicker than normal. he never did post what the testing temp that the engine was testing at...
imho, i would say yes to a lower temp thermostat if you're modifying the sh*t out of your engine, i.e. supercharging or turbo, since you're adding a lot more heat due to the higher output.
good luck.

ok this is what i read on icbmotorsport.com.........."This thermostat has the operating temperature set lower than normal. It prevents engine power loss by minimizing rapid water-temperature rises under harsh conditions such as during circuit driving. The use of a flow-control-type valve prevents hunting, thereby achieving rapid stabilization of the water temperature (the engine warms up within a short period). Operating temperature: 68 degrees (STD.: 76~80 degrees) Full-throttle acceleration temperature: 81 degrees (STD.: 90 degrees)"..."Activates cooling fan at 80 degrees instead of the stock 93 degrees. Requires use of Mugen low-temp thermostat."
