I just timed my honda about 30 min ago, but the the engine was tore apart so I'm sure it's different then what your taling about...Cam timing, crank timin, and dist timing.
use A timing light like every other vehicle.....for ignition timing

pretty sure you let it warm up all the way, Jump the check engine light wires, Hook up timing light and adjust so that the red mark on the pulley is timed (there are four marks and three are close together, the red one is the middle of those three). That is what I remeber about timing my '92 D15Z1 in my VX Hatch.

It basically tells the ecu that your adjusting the timing instead of the timing randomly going out of whack....it's will save the timing change insted of trying to change it back to where it was.

It puts the engine in limp mode where it will not automatically change the timing at idle. It will keep it steady so that it is much easier to set a base ignition timing.

By camshaft, do you mean the timing belt?
